Achari chicken is a indian chicken curry. Achar means indian pickle. This is particularly on chicken curry and taste like aachar and has a lot of taste. This curry is good sides with any kind of indian bread like roti, paratha, etc. We can make this in lunch or dinner. This chicken curry is very popular dish in India and in Indian restaurants also. Simple recipe, simple ingredients, and super in taste.

Ingredients:
Chicken 1200 grams medium size pieces (with or without bones)
Dahi 1/2 cup
Red chili powder 2 tsp.
turmeric powder 1 tsp.
salt as per taste
hing 1/2 tsp.
1 dry red chili
mustard oil 5-6 tbsp.
cumin seeds 1 tsp.
coriander seeds 1 tsp.
fennel seeds 2 tsp.
mustard seeds 1/2 tsp.
kalonji 1/2 tsp.
fenugreek seeds(methi) 1/2 tsp.
Ready made mango pickle(optional) 2 tbsp.
4 medium onions finely chop
ginger julians 1 tbsp.
2 large tomatoes
5-6 green chili
freshly chopped coriander 1/2 cup
ginger paste 1 tsp.
garlic paste 1/2 tsp.


Process:
Clean chicken properly and dry it. Marinate chicken with dahi, turmeric powder, red chili powder, ginger and garlic paste. Set aside for minimum 30 mins. Dry roast all whole spices(cumin, coriander, fennel, mustard, kalonji and fenugreek seeds). Cool down the spices and make a course powder. In a kadai add mustard oil. Once the oil is hot add hing and dry red chili. When the aroma comes, add onions. Fry lightly and add marinated chicken. Mix well and saute until the raw smell is gone. Add tomato puree. Mix and cook everything together until the oil separates. Now add the course powder. Add salt and water. Mix and cook for 4-5 minutes. Check the gravy. If the gravy is dry, then add a little water. When the oil separates from the gravy, it means it is done. Add ginger and coriander and pickle. Lightly mix the curry. Switch off the flame and rest for 10 mins. Our Achari Chicken is ready to serve!
